MAINTENANCE IN HAZARDOUS AREAS

Christmas is coming but not everyone can enjoy the long-awaited vacation.

Plants, in fact, are often stopped to perform those maintenance activities that are fundamental for the continued plant safety.

The maintenance of an explosion proof plant is a very important step as well as his correct project and construction.

Nothing in the world remains unaltered over time, therefore, when some characteristics change and may affect the safety, it is necessary to provide a range of operations to maintain or restore, if possible, a product to its original state of security.

Unfortunately, a lot of incidents in petrochemical industry, due to electrical causes, are attributed not to mistakes in planning or in choosing a method of protection, rather to a missing or incorrect maintenance. If we can be almost sure of the safety of a new facility, we can not be after years of use.

A periodic check is therefore essential and it must follow a proper maintenance of existing equipment and a suitable replacement of those which are no longer completely reliable.

YFC Series Limit switches

Traditional Ex-d limit switches have a big enclosure that makes difficult to install them in situations of limited space.

Thanks to new production technologies and the use of resistant materials, Cortem Group designed explosion proof limit switches as small as non-explosion proof industrial products.

Cortem Limit switches is most of all reliable with passing of time. Cortem Group’s researchers, in fact, simulated the working of limit switches mechanical and electrical parts in the worst mechanical and thermal conditions.

Besides such additional tests, the product has been tested according to the Standards IEC 60079-0 and IEC 60079-1 for safe use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 in presence of gas, vapors and mists and to the Standards IEC 61241-0 and IEC 61241-1 for safe use in Zone 21 and Zone 22 in presence of flammable dusts.
